Steelers vs. Seahawks, third-quarter summary

The third quarter kicked off with the Steelers offense looking like they were running a damn YMCA drill—three-yard curls, four-yard dives, and then punting it back to Seattle. Cue Kenneth Walker, who apparently decided to cosplay as Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl, ripping off 9 and 15-yard runs like it was nothing. Patrick Queen did his best to play firefighter, blowing up an outside run, but Darnold quickly found his old buddy Cooper Kupp for back-to-back strikes. A couple of those death-by-five-yard runs later, the Seahawks strolled into the end zone to tie it 14–14.
And then came what might’ve been the play of the young season. Rodgers dropped back from the 30, rolled left to escape the rush, and hit Jaylen Warren for a simple 10-yard pass. But Warren wasn’t having “simple.” He shed three tackles, weaved in and out like a joystick was controlling him, picked up a convoy of blockers, and rumbled all the way down to the Seahawks’ five. The place went nuts—this was Warren at full monster mode, the exact kind of play that makes you scream why the hell hasn’t he been fed the rock more the past couple of years? Then, in classic Steelers fashion, they botched it: a busted fake reverse, a wasted down, Gainwell running for zilch, and Rodgers rolling out only to force a pick in the end zone. From pure euphoria to gut punch in the span of four plays.
The Seahawks tried to hit back with a bomb, but Darnold overthrew his guy by about ten yards—thank you, football gods. On the very next play, Peyton Wilson came crashing through like a wrecking ball, chasing Darnold into the dirt and forcing a desperation fling to nowhere. That defensive stand gave the crowd a jolt and looked like the kind of moment that could swing things back our way.
But the Steelers offense couldn’t match the energy. Another weak-ass possession stalled out just shy of midfield. The crowd wanted Tomlin to roll the dice, but instead they punted, flipping the field while boos rained down. And so, after all the chaos—Warren’s heroics, Rodgers’ facepalm interception, and flashes of defensive muscle—the third quarter closed with everything dead even at 14–14. It was tense, ugly, and every bit the kind of grindfest Steelers fans know too well.
below are the quick and dirty notes:
- The Steelers start with a ball and move it around 4 yards at a time, however, end up putting it to the Seahawks
- Kenneth Walker starts the drive with a nine year-old run. This is gonna be a headache for the Steelers all season. They gotta figure out how to stop the run. 9 yards on the first down, put them on their heels.
- Turn off play Kenneth Walker rips off another 15 yard. Sound familiar?
- The Seahawks try to run outside on the Steelers and Patrick Queen says hell no. Stopping Charbonnet for one yard loss.
- Third down and Darnold hits Cooper Kupp on a strike for first down on Jalen Ramsey. This is a good battle back-and-forth against the two former teammates.
- Sure enough, next play gray play action path to Cooper cupp for like a 15 yard gain
- After a couple 5 yard runs, sound familiar?, Darnold hits his receiver for a 7 yard touchdown. Tying the game at 14.
- and now we might have the play of the young season. Steelers on the 30 Rogers drop back move to the left after avoiding a rush and hits worn for a 10 yard pass. However, Warren wasn’t content with that, breaks three tackles, weaves in and out, has some blockers ahead ahead of of him for some extra yards and takes it all the way down to the Seahawks five. Warren is a monster. He should’ve been getting more touches the past couple years.
- The Steelers try some fake reverse trituration and it gets blown up. Luckily Rogers just spikes the ball.
- Gain while back in the game and he only gained 0 yards well
- Rogers shows some mobility in the pocket rolls out the left fires a strike however, the Seahawks defender jumps the route and picks it off in the end zone. Major bummer as the Steelers offense was looking nice.
- Donald tries to throw a bomb and while the receiver was open, luckily, he overthrows it
- Next play Seahawks call timeout because they wanna get it right however that doesn’t matter. Peyton Wilson comes burst and through the line, forcing Darnold to roll left and someone snags his ankle. As he stumbling into the ground, he fling it for an in completion and forcing the fourth down.
- Steelers give the ball back and only move 9 yards to midfield. After a chorus of some boo’s since the crowd wanted them to go for it, they punt it and flip the field with the Seahawks taken over around the 5 yard line.
- We ended the third quarter with the score tied 14 and 14

In the latest NFL news, the league is buzzing with updates, injuries, and a few surprises that could make or break your fantasy team. First up, the New England Patriots are feeling the sting as their running back, Antonio Gibson, has been sidelined for the season due to a torn ACL. This is a tough blow for the Patriots, who were hoping to rely on Gibson’s speed and agility to navigate through the season. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are also dealing with their own injury woes, as cornerback Terrion Arnold is expected to be out for an extended period with a shoulder injury. Coach Dan Campbell is keeping his fingers crossed that it won’t be season-ending, but let’s be real, the Lions could use all the help they can get. In other news, the Indianapolis Colts are facing a similar fate as kicker Spencer Shrader will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL. It seems like injuries are the real MVPs this season!
As we dive deeper into the injury reports, we can’t help but notice the drama unfolding in the league. The Kansas City Chiefs are holding their breath as wide receiver Xavier Worthy is questionable for their upcoming game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Chiefs sitting at a 2-2 record, they need all hands on deck to secure a win. And speaking of wins, the Las Vegas Raiders are also feeling the heat as tight end Brock Bowers is considered week to week with a knee injury. The Raiders are hoping to turn their season around, but with injuries piling up, it’s looking like a tough road ahead.
In the midst of all this chaos, we can’t forget about the other trending stories in the NFL. The Titans have activated RB Tyjae Spears from injured reserve, which could be a game-changer for their offense. And let’s not overlook the Ravens, who are dealing with their own injury concerns as QB Lamar Jackson sits out practice with a hamstring issue. It’s a wild ride in the NFL, and as we gear up for Week 6, one thing is for sure: injuries are the name of the game!

In a plot twist that even the most seasoned college football fans didn’t see coming, the Penn State Nittany Lions have managed to go from a promising No. 2 ranking to a complete disappearance from the AP Top 25. It’s like watching a magician pull a rabbit out of a hat, only to realize the rabbit was actually a very confused cat. After a stunning loss to UCLA, a team that was on the brink of a winless season, Penn State has left fans scratching their heads and wondering if they should start looking for a new head coach. James Franklin, the man at the helm, has been steering this ship for years, but it seems like he’s lost the map somewhere between the Big Ten and the national championship. The Nittany Lions were supposed to be the team to beat, but now they’re just the team to laugh at. With a soft non-conference schedule and a record of 0-2 against Power Four schools, it’s hard to argue that they deserve any votes in the top 25. So, what’s next for Penn State? A win against Northwestern might help, but let’s be real, they need a miracle to get back on track. Buckle up, folks, this season just got a lot more interesting!
