Steelers vs Seahawks 4th quarter recap

Published

on

The fourth quarter started with the Seahawks marching like it was a damn walkthrough. Darnold dinked and dunked to Kupp and Smith-Njigba, then Kenneth Walker ripped off a 20-yard backbreaker to put himself well over the 100-yard mark. A chip-shot field goal later and it was 17–14 Seattle. But the real disaster came right after: Caleb Johnson touched a kickoff he apparently thought was a hot potato, let it roll into the end zone, and just… walked away. Seahawks recovered for the easiest touchdown of the season. Seahawks 24, Steelers 14. Danny Smith’s special teams room better sound like a boot camp this week.

To their credit, the Steelers didn’t roll over immediately. Rodgers dinked around for a few plays, then found Freiermuth for 20 yards, bringing out the loudest “MUUUUUTH” of the day. The drive stalled, but Boswell salvaged it with a 45-yarder to keep it within a score at 24–17. Then “Renegade” blasted through the speakers, and as usual the defense came out foaming at the mouth—stopping Charbonnet twice and watching rookie Jack Sawyer go nuts after his first TFL like he just discovered ecstasy. It felt like momentum… until it didn’t.

Sure enough, the defense got reckless, Patrick Queen nearly had Darnold only for him to dump it off for a chunk gain, and then the dagger: Darnold dropped a perfect dime to Smith-Njigba for 40 yards over Jalen Ramsey, who honestly couldn’t have covered it better. Jack Sawyer answered with his first career sack, but the very next play the Seahawks bounced an outside run with zero containment, turning it into six. Seahawks up 31–17, and the air got sucked out of Acrisure.

Rodgers tried to summon some late magic, but it was a comedy of errors. First play, he ate a sack. Then a nice hookup to DK got erased by illegal motion. At the two-minute warning he chucked a bomb to Calvin Austin for a wild 4th-down conversion, only for it to unravel with incompletions, a five-minute ref huddle for intentional grounding, and finally a desperate pick on 4th down to Austin again. Ballgame: Seahawks 31, Steelers 17. From blown kickoffs to blown coverages, this one ended in a sloppy, gut-punch of a loss.

  • The Seahawks get the ball and move it down with some intermediate passes to both Cooper Kupp and Smith Njigba, then Kenneth Walker rips off a 20 yard run to set them up and field goal range. Walker has to be at over 100 yards already. They nailed the field goal and make it 17-14 Seahawks.
  • disaster strikes! The Seahawks kick it off and Caleb Johnson touches the kickoff which then rolls into the end zone which is recovered by the Seahawks for a touchdown. I don’t know if Caleb didn’t know the rules but he touched it and then he just walks off the field. It’s the easiest touchdown for any team this season. Seahawks 24 Steelers 14.
  • Danny Smith, the Steelers special team’s coach has his work cut out for him. He better be chewing out some asses this week.
  • Looks like they’re already making changes and they replace Johnson with Gainwell and Warren
  • After a couple of shorter plays, Rogers hits Freiermuth for a 20 yard pass and the crowd erupts with MUUUUUTH
  • After a couple of shorter plays they bring out Boswell who nailed the 45 yard field goal making it 24 to 17 Seattle
  • The Seahawks take over and the run defense finally holds Charbonnet to a no gain
  • It all makes sense why. The defense is fired up from renegade playing. Time to run through a wall.(even though I’ve noticed the offense usually scores right after we play renegade.)
  • Another no game for Charbonnet! Big play by the rookie Jack Sawyer who gets fired up. I don’t blame him, the first renegade experience is like ecstasy.
  • Sure enough, Patrick queen comes burst and through the line and almost sacked Darnold just for him to dump it off to the tight end for a 15 to 20 yard gain. This is what I mean the Steelers defense gets fired up for two or three plays and plays reckless And I could almost guarantee the Seahawks are gonna score here.
  • Sure enough… Donald hits Smith Njigba for what look like a 40 yard pass against Jalen Ramsey. To Ramsay‘s credit, he actually had great coverage. It was just a perfect ball.
  • Jack Sawyer came to play! Gets his first sack.
  • Next play the Seahawks run a conservative run to the outside however there’s no outside contain any turns a run into a touchdown. Seahawks up 31 to 17.
  • Steelers get the ball back with under four minutes and the first play Rogers get sacked
  • Steelers had a nice pickup to DK, however an illegal motion nullifies it.
  • After a short pass, Rodgers chucks a bomb to Calvin Austin for a 4th down conversion at the 2 min warning
  • Couple incompletions
  • After 5 min of discussions, the refs decide it was intentional grounding
  • And the Steelers hopes end on a 4th down interception with Rodgers trying to hit Calvin Austin. Not much you could do there
  • Seahawks 31 – Steelers 17

Penn State vs. Northwestern hype video

Published

on

Penn State enters Evanston at 3-1, but the Lions aren’t exactly riding into battle untouched. After opening the season with three straight wins-including a 55-13 win over Buffalo-their first Big Ten test ended in a 24-20 loss to Wisconsin. The defense is still creating havoc, with eight takeaways through four games, but now the Lions leave Happy Valley needing to prove that one defeat didn’t crack the armor.

Waiting on the shores of Lake Michigan is a Northwestern team that has been a lot more dangerous than anyone should assume. The Wildcats opened 2-0, crushed Colorado 41-7, then went into the home of No. 5 Indiana and nearly pulled off the upset before falling 29-23. Now they return home for the first game ever at the new Ryan Field-and they already beat Penn State 22-21 last season. The Wildcats have their castle. The Lions are at the gates.

Friday night, the battle begins.

Steelers somehow lose to a Deshaun Watson-led Browns team

Published

on

The Browns did the football equivalent of showing up to the AFC North potluck, eating the best dish, and then acting surprised when they’re suddenly in charge of the whole table. Cleveland’s 27-24 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night pushed the Browns to 3-1, put them alone in first place in the division, and extended Deshaun Watson’s latest hobby: marching the offense downfield like a man who has somewhere much better to be after midnight.

This was Watson’s third straight game-winning drive, which is the sort of stat that starts turning a team’s identity from “interesting early-season story” into “oh no, these guys might actually be real.” The Browns have spent enough years living in the land of should-have-won-and-didn’t that a divisional win like this feels especially loud. Beating the Steelers at home in prime time is never just one victory; it’s a little declaration that the old AFC North script might need a rewrite. Cleveland has momentum, confidence, and first place — three things that are usually hard to find in one Browns-shaped package. The takeaway is simple: if this is the version of Cleveland that shows up in October, the rest of the division is going to need a bigger excuse than “it was on Thursday night.”
