Steelers vs. Jets 4th quarter recap

Published

on

The fourth quarter opened like a damn dream—Rodgers flipped a short TD to Jaylen Warren, then Kenneth Gainwell decided to spice things up by coughing the ball up on the kickoff. Two plays later, Rodgers found Calvin Austin for a silky 18-yard score, and suddenly the Steelers were up 31–26 with all the momentum. Of course, Breece Hall immediately reminded everyone he still owned the Steelers’ defense, and despite TJ Watt bulldozing through for Hall’s first negative rush, Fields dinked, dunked, and eventually ran it in himself to swing it back Jets 32–31. From there it was haymaker after haymaker, neither side blinking, until Rodgers calmly marched down the field with Freiermuth, Austin, and DK helping set the stage.

Then came the balls-out moment: Chris Boswell trotting out for a 60-yarder with a minute left. Nobody thought his old ass had it in the leg anymore—hell, half the stadium was probably ready to Uber home. But Boswell drilled it dead center, looking like he could’ve nailed it from midfield. Steelers up 34–32 with 45 seconds left. The Jets got one last crack, but the Steelers defense finally remembered what their job title was and forced three straight incompletions. Ballgame. Steelers 34, Jets 32—ugly as hell, but a win’s a win.

quick and dirty notes:

  • The Steelers kick off the fourth quarter with a nice pass Jalen Warren for a 5 yard TD. The Steelers closed the gap to 26 to 24
  • And the good fortune continues! Kenneth Gainwell wasn’t content with just run in the ball, so he goes and creates a fumble on the kickoff.
  • The Steelers punch it in two plays later with a nice 18 yard pass to Calvin Austin. We heard rumors of the Rogers to Austin connection all summer, and it looks to be true so far.
  • The Steelers go up 31 to 26
  • The Jets get the ball back and just where he left off hall rushes for 12 yards. However, we get a gem. The first negative rush for hall, courtesy by TJ Watt, running like a bull through the line
  • However, the Jets did and dunked their way down the field, picking up 5 yard rushes at ease and over 20 yard passes way too easily to the red zone. Alex hi Smith finally gets a sack for the Steelers however, two plays later Justin Fields punches it in And the Jets go back up 32 to 31.
  • The Steelers and Jets trades on points back-and-forth
  • 2:10 to go and the Steelers get the ball back down one. Aaron Rodgers starts with a 10 yard pass to Freiermuth.
  • The Jets give us a gift through a 19 yard passing interference penny on Calvin Austin. Not a bad play on their part cause Austin looked like he could’ve added some more yards to it.
  • Rogers inches up closer with an 11 yard past DK two the Jets 41. Now we’re all thinking we got momentum so either touchdown could be in the cards or get some more yards for Boswell.
  • Sure enough after a negative pass we’re still around the Jets 40 which means Boswell would have to lineup for a 60 yard field goal.
  • 1:12 left on the clock and they trough out the Bos
  • We all love balls, but no way does he have a 60 yard or still in the system, right?
  • Sure enough boss lines up kicks it looks like it’s going through the upright… and drills it! Looks like he could’ve hit it from another 5 yards back
  • Steelers up by two with 45 seconds left. Steelers 34 Jets 32
  • The Jess get the ball back and the Steelers defense lockdown for the first time all game and forces three straight and completions to end the game.
  • Steelers win 34 to 32

Penn State vs. Northwestern hype video

Published

on

Penn State enters Evanston at 3-1, but the Lions aren’t exactly riding into battle untouched. After opening the season with three straight wins-including a 55-13 win over Buffalo-their first Big Ten test ended in a 24-20 loss to Wisconsin. The defense is still creating havoc, with eight takeaways through four games, but now the Lions leave Happy Valley needing to prove that one defeat didn’t crack the armor.

Waiting on the shores of Lake Michigan is a Northwestern team that has been a lot more dangerous than anyone should assume. The Wildcats opened 2-0, crushed Colorado 41-7, then went into the home of No. 5 Indiana and nearly pulled off the upset before falling 29-23. Now they return home for the first game ever at the new Ryan Field-and they already beat Penn State 22-21 last season. The Wildcats have their castle. The Lions are at the gates.

Friday night, the battle begins.

Steelers somehow lose to a Deshaun Watson-led Browns team

Published

on

The Browns did the football equivalent of showing up to the AFC North potluck, eating the best dish, and then acting surprised when they’re suddenly in charge of the whole table. Cleveland’s 27-24 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night pushed the Browns to 3-1, put them alone in first place in the division, and extended Deshaun Watson’s latest hobby: marching the offense downfield like a man who has somewhere much better to be after midnight.

This was Watson’s third straight game-winning drive, which is the sort of stat that starts turning a team’s identity from “interesting early-season story” into “oh no, these guys might actually be real.” The Browns have spent enough years living in the land of should-have-won-and-didn’t that a divisional win like this feels especially loud. Beating the Steelers at home in prime time is never just one victory; it’s a little declaration that the old AFC North script might need a rewrite. Cleveland has momentum, confidence, and first place — three things that are usually hard to find in one Browns-shaped package. The takeaway is simple: if this is the version of Cleveland that shows up in October, the rest of the division is going to need a bigger excuse than “it was on Thursday night.”
