Galatasaray to Report Jose Mourinho to FIFA, UEFA for ‘Racist Statements’
Galatasaray plans to report Jose Mourinho to FIFA and UEFA for alleged racist remarks following a match against Fenerbahçe. The club condemns Mourinho’s comments and seeks accountability.

Galatasaray, the leaders of the Turkish Süper Lig, have announced their intention to report Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho to FIFA and UEFA for what they describe as “racist statements.” This decision follows a tense 0-0 draw between the two teams in Istanbul on Monday night.
Mourinho had expressed his approval of the appointment of a non-Turkish referee, Slovenian Slavko Vinčić, who officiated the match. In his post-match press conference, he praised the referee’s performance, stating, “The performance of the referee was a top performance. Anyone, not just from this country but also abroad, watched a big football match. I think the man responsible for that was the referee.”
He further elaborated on his interactions with the officials, saying, “I went to the referee’s dressing room after the game. Of course, the fourth official was there, a Turkish referee. And I told him, thank you for coming here. I turn myself to the fourth official and I told him this match, if you are the referee … would be a disaster. When I say him, I say the general tendency.”
Mourinho also commented on an incident involving his 19-year-old defender Yusuf Akcicek, saying, “Again, I have to thank the referee because with a Turkish referee after the big dive and the first minute and their bench jumping like monkeys on top of the kids. A Turkish referee would have given Akcicek a yellow card after one minute, and after five minutes I would have to change him.”
In response, Galatasaray issued a statement condemning Mourinho’s remarks, asserting, “Since the commencement of his managerial duties in Türkiye, Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has persistently issued derogatory statements directed towards the Turkish people. Today, his discourse has escalated beyond merely immoral comments into unequivocally inhumane rhetoric.”
They declared their intention to initiate criminal proceedings regarding Mourinho’s comments and will submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA. The statement concluded with a call for Fenerbahçe to address the behavior of their manager, emphasizing the need for accountability in upholding moral values.
Mourinho has previously criticized the officiating in Turkey, describing the environment surrounding referees in the Süper Lig as “toxic.” In January, he remarked on the challenges faced by referees in the league, highlighting the need for improvement.
In a lighter note, one might wonder if Mourinho’s next press conference will feature a referee as a special guest. After all, he seems to have a lot to say about them! And speaking of referees, why did the referee bring string to the game? To tie the score!

Penn State vs. Northwestern hype video

Penn State enters Evanston at 3-1, but the Lions aren’t exactly riding into battle untouched. After opening the season with three straight wins-including a 55-13 win over Buffalo-their first Big Ten test ended in a 24-20 loss to Wisconsin. The defense is still creating havoc, with eight takeaways through four games, but now the Lions leave Happy Valley needing to prove that one defeat didn’t crack the armor.
Waiting on the shores of Lake Michigan is a Northwestern team that has been a lot more dangerous than anyone should assume. The Wildcats opened 2-0, crushed Colorado 41-7, then went into the home of No. 5 Indiana and nearly pulled off the upset before falling 29-23. Now they return home for the first game ever at the new Ryan Field-and they already beat Penn State 22-21 last season. The Wildcats have their castle. The Lions are at the gates.
Friday night, the battle begins.

Steelers somehow lose to a Deshaun Watson-led Browns team
The Browns did the football equivalent of showing up to the AFC North potluck, eating the best dish, and then acting surprised when they’re suddenly in charge of the whole table. Cleveland’s 27-24 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night pushed the Browns to 3-1, put them alone in first place in the division, and extended Deshaun Watson’s latest hobby: marching the offense downfield like a man who has somewhere much better to be after midnight.
This was Watson’s third straight game-winning drive, which is the sort of stat that starts turning a team’s identity from “interesting early-season story” into “oh no, these guys might actually be real.” The Browns have spent enough years living in the land of should-have-won-and-didn’t that a divisional win like this feels especially loud. Beating the Steelers at home in prime time is never just one victory; it’s a little declaration that the old AFC North script might need a rewrite. Cleveland has momentum, confidence, and first place — three things that are usually hard to find in one Browns-shaped package. The takeaway is simple: if this is the version of Cleveland that shows up in October, the rest of the division is going to need a bigger excuse than “it was on Thursday night.”
